Geek Resources: websites that every geek should know about

Here's a collection of resourceful sites (in no particular order) that I think offer FREE important knowledge or services to geeks. You may not be able to relate to every single one, but I hope that you'll find some of them useful. I don't do link exchanges, but if you know of an incredible site that should be known to all geeks, please contact me. Most of these sites accept donations or benefit if you buy their merchandise - which helps keep them up and running.

Wikipedia Globe Wikipedia.org A free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit. There are multiple languages available (this link will take you to the home page in English). There has been a lot of debate about the validity/neutrality of some of the articles, but there are a devout group of Wikipedians who do their best to police entries for accuracy and neutrality. It's a wonderful thing.
Firefox logo Get FireFox
and
Thunderbird
The tabbed browsing and plug-ins are what make the Firefox internet browser the best for me. There's also increased security and lots of options for customizing. Same goes for Thunderbird for email, and it's a great alternative to Microsoft Outlook.
StumbleUpon logo StumbleUpon The best resource for the bored web surfer! StumbleUpon is an extension for Firefox. You click a Stumble! button in your toolbar, and the program will take you to a random link. Some are better than others. You can also rate the page thumbs up or down, leave a comment, and read other people's comments. A lot of people come across the Geek Test through StumbleUpon.
W3C logo W3C Validator The World Wide Web Consortium is the ruling body of all web operations. Their website has a ton of advice, tools, and guidelines that are essential to any web designer or developer who cares. This link goes to the validator, one of my favorite tools. My site conforms to the standards, but I can't display the button that proves it because my webhosting provider adds icky code for collecting site statistics. Hopefully that will change in the future.
woxy.com WOXY Radio The best Alternative/Modern Rock radio station, ever. It was my favorite station in college when it was on the radio (97.7 FM, aka 97X, in Oxford, Ohio). In 2004, they were the first terrestrial radio station to make the move to an Internet-only entity. Now you can listen to their streaming broadcast for free anywhere in the world. You can also feel good about quoting Dustin Hoffman from Rain Man: "97X--Bam!--The Future of Rock & Roll."
